Yes, we will  endure  to discuss on the history of Indian elections.

     WHAT IS HISTORY OF ELECTIONS

One of basic information need to know by every citizen in India was, People will be considered for voting under UAF, formally known as universal adult franchise.

Elections were form of procedure to elect the leaders on the basis of voting to governance and administrate the country in dedicated manner. Every individual who were resident of India should eligible to cast vote and elect their leaders, Before the independent elections were conducted, on time of British ruling federal legislative elections were held in 1937, 1942 under observation British prominence. These elections were held on the basis of ACT 1935 i.e, property tax borrowers were considered to participate on voting. Then after independence to India, leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, B R Ambedkar , Jaya Prakash Narayan, J B Acharya Kripalani  and others were frontiers to conduct first independent elections in India on  27 march1952, On that period in India the literacy rate was not a good number actually, one of the survey claimed that 15% of country were only literate among all over India, This seems to tough actually because people should get aware of elections and its procedure and educate them that elections were their own right to elect their ruler candidate. To make the procedure easy and legitimate elections officials were introduced political symbols, which were easy to recognize the individual symbol without any inconvenience to the voters and hence violet ink was another invention of those period of elections and continuing now too, as to eradicate the proxy and illegal actions done by voters during period of elections. We can proudly say that it was stupendous take on conducting first independent elections during period 1950's as we mostly knew that it was been a couple of years that independence was arrived and still many to become normal, we should make notice of determination of leaders and government to succeed the elections in a legitimate manner.

It should'nt be possible without some of higher officials of civil servants and electoral, The first election commissioner of India was Sukumar Sen, was one of the greatest possibility to conduct elections and on that time there was approximately 16,500 electoral were appointed for proceedings of elections because earlier there was no notation of any record and they should create records by undertaking population survey and residents of India according to eligible criteria for elections, there was acts were came into force for criteria of conducting elections.

Act  1950 - Representation of the people.

Act 1951 -  Voter list for constitutes were published

Elections were categorized into three forms, where every individual can elect their candidate for ruling

  •  Lok Sabha
  • Rajya Sabha
  • Grama Panchyat

Under basis of Acts, there were 489 seats considered with the population of 17.3 million and parties which were officially recognized among national parties and regional parties, on which national parties were 40 and 39 regional parties, Then another major thing was introduced on period of elections were ballot boxes, accordingly , when every individual cast their vote then storage would be needed to avoid harmonics in the procedure, So Ballot boxes were introduced, which was manufactured by Godrej & Boyce Mfg.Co.Ltd, which were securely safe and specially designed pieces, This initiation was come into by a shop floor worker to design a small metal box where we can store ballot papers in it. There were approx. 12,83,371 ballot boxes were dispatched to all over country of 23 states and production was generated rapidly because there were many polling booths and many ballot boxes to be supplied as earliest. To educate people about elections, electoral  were arranged campaigns and brief them that how to cast vote and on what basis we should vote to particular candidate with irrespective of caste, creed, gender and religion. The number of polling booth were formed for elections were 2,24,300.

Fun fact : On elections there would separate ballot boxes were arranged to cast every individual vote.

It was a heavy process that to arrange and summarize all the portfolio in dedicated manner, Coming to parties, Nehru was one of great and prominent leader for struggling independence and also president of Indian National Congress (INC) and some of the leaders were detached from compliance and formed individual parties likewise some of leaders were

  • Syama Prasad Mookerji founded  Bharatiya Jana Sangh
  • B R Ambedkar founded Republican Party
  • J B Acharya kripalani  came with Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party
  • Ram Manohar Lohia and Jaya Prakash Narayan came with Socialist Party

After successful completion of first elections, INC secured maximum percentage and CPI party and Socialist party were secured with minimum percentage with

Indian National congress party with 364 seats and CPI party secured 16 seats also Socialist party secured 12 seats along with some other parties with less percentage.

One of the major thing to be noticed was the voting percentage of 45% was only registered on the period but we should remember our great leaders with stupendous effort registered with polling percentage of 45 which almost half of population came into force to cast their vote. Actually during 1950's also still some places were occupied were British ruling and after establishment of republic day was considered a complete independence and from of slavery.
